This past weekend I got to
shoot my second wedding! Even better, I got to shoot it with my hubby for his
birthday! :) Barbara and Jim got married in front of their closest
friends and family at the Southlake Town Square courthouse. The ceremony was
followed by a small reception at Brio’s. Everything was absolutely beautiful
and we had a lot of fun spending the day with this awesome couple! Here is just a small
preview of some of the images I captured that day. More to come soon! :)
Last weekend I got the
opportunity to shoot my very first wedding for Teresa & Randy at a friend
of theirs home in Southlake, Texas. Teresa was referred to me by a mutual
friend. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet until their wedding day so I wasn’t able
to get to know this couple personally beforehand, but I do know their wedding
was beautiful and surrounded by people who love them. Here are some highlights
from their wedding day:
Now I know some people may
be wondering what I thought about shooting my first wedding, so here it is: I
loved it! :) Yes, it was tiring and yes, I was nervous at times. But
the excitement/hecticness of a wedding day and watching two people commit their
lives to one another while surrounded by their loved ones is such a pleasure to
not only witness but to provide them with those memories.
Ok. So remember that
workshop I went to a couple of weeks ago? If not, check out part 1 and part 2
of this post. Anyway, I mentioned that I still had another brides pictures from
the workshop to post but couldn’t until after April 14th, her
wedding day. Well, it is now April 19th and I’m finally able to post
her pictures!! The bride, Alexa, was so great! Not only is she beautiful but
she got down and dirty for us lol. She even got attacked by some adorable yet
muddy puppies. She was definitely a trooper! Alexa, congratulations to you and
your new husband! I wish you both nothing but the best in your new life
together! :)
I will be posting more on my Facebook page so make sure and friend me on there to see more pictures I took from the workshop!
Also, If you're interested in Leslie Spurlocks work or attending one of her workshops, you can visit her site here or "like" her Facebook page here.
That's all for today. Until next time, Happy Thursday! :)
So this past weekend was a
very exciting and eventful weekend. On Friday I had my very first client
consultation with a bride whose wedding is this Saturday, April 21st and then
on Saturday I shot my very first wedding for Teresa & Randy, whose pictures
I will be posting very soon. I posted a little preview on my Facebook page if
you would like to check those out now.
The client consultation went
VERY well! I got the job and will be shooting my second wedding this weekend,
April 21st, in Southlake! I am beyond excited and grateful for the
opportunity these brides have given me. The only downfall is that this day just
happens to be Daniel’s 25th birthday, but he insisted that I take
the job anyway. We decided that he’ll just come second shoot with me (yes, he
knows how to shoot in manual lol). Plus this way we get to spend his birthday
together! :)
I was beyond nervous for
Teresa & Randy’s wedding this past weekend. Luckily, Mercy Nompone was
second shooting with me and was there for me every second of the day! I don’t know
what I would have done without her there. Even though I was nervous, Teresa and
Randy along with their guest made me feel very comfortable! I couldn’t have
asked for a better group of people to photograph! Not to mention good looking!
;) I look forward to sharing their wedding pictures with everyone!
On another note, I posted
last week about ordering and designing my first business cards. Since I never
got a chance to post a picture of them last week I thought I would go ahead and
do that now:
This past week has been
probably one of the busiest/craziest weeks of my growing business thus far. I
have been franticly preparing for my first wedding this Saturday. This included
me designing & ordering my very first business cards in case anyone asked
for one at the event. I actually just picked them up from Minuteman Press in Grapevine, and I must say they don’t look too bad for my first business cards!
Luckily the cards came in today because I’m also preparing to do my first client
consultation tomorrow with another potential bride and wanted to include them
in her information packet. Anyways, I’m keeping my fingers crossed!! :)
I can’t believe I even had a
second to write this little post. As we speak, I’m about to run out the door to go get
some new shoes for the wedding this weekend. My other ones are just falling
apart and I don’t want to end up barefooted (at my first wedding at least lol).
Hopefully next week I’ll be able to write a better post for you guys! As well
as post some pictures of those business cards I told y’all about and my homemade
client information packet lol.
First off, I want to say
Happy Good Friday to everyone! Today is the day we remember the death of our
savior, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins. And if you’re Catholic, like I
partially am, then this also means no meat today! Why is it so much harder when
I’m told I can’t!?lol
Anyways, I posted a week ago
part 1 of my experience at Leslie Spurlock’s Workshop in March and today I’m
finally posting part 2. As I mentioned in the first post, this will actually be
split into 3 parts because one of the brides isn’t getting married until next
weekend and out of respect for her, I’m waiting until after the wedding to post
her bridals.
So the second day of the
workshop was all about editing and the business side of photography. We mainly
worked in Lightroom but used Photoshop for textures. Anyways, Leslie gave us
her set of presets for Lightroom which is awesome! And I would have to say my
favorite new tools that I learned to use in Lightroom are the gradient tool and
the magic brush tool. It was a halleluiah moment lol! As for the business part
of it, I am getting a business
degree, so I pretty much know all of that stuff already, but it was great hearing it specifically relate to photography. The
business side was taught by Maria Leinen of Maria Leinen Photography and let
me tell you, I’m really picky when it comes to photographers teaching the
business side of things, mainly because they only tell you one part of it or
don’t give you all the correct options, but Maria really knew her stuff!! I was
VERY impressed!! She also gave us some great information about SEO and websites
that I was not familiar with before.
Overall, this workshop was
amazing! I can’t tell you which day I enjoyed more because they were both just packed
with information! I also enjoyed meeting and connecting with some other great
photographers that I hope to stay in touch with! With all that
said, I can’t wait to go to my next workshop!! I have a feeling that I won’t
have to wait too long though! ;) Below is a picture I took on day 2 of the
workshop with my camera phone. And no, I didn’t edit this picture.
In some other related news, I
made my first money from my work as a photographer! Last week, another
photographer contacted me about purchasing one of my prints and I sold them a
High Res copy!! I am still unbelievable flattered! :)
Well, that’s it for today.
Until next time, have a Happy Easter Weekend!!
I was planning on posting
part 2 of my experience at Leslie Spurlock’s Workshop today, but I did
something this past weekend that I never thought in a million years I would do.
I submitted a video of myself auditioning to be one of the lucky 6 people who
get to attend Jasmine Star’s CreativeLIVE workshop in Seattle entitled, The Making + Marketing of an Editorial Wedding!
So I decided to blog about this big/exciting/nerve-racking news instead lol.
When I first found out in February
that Jasmine was coming back to CreativeLIVE to do her third online workshop, I
was beyond excited. My good friend, Mercy Nompone, immediately called telling me that she would be happy to help me make a video to submit for
consideration. She was extremely surprised when I told her that I wasn’t planning
on submitting and to be honest, I was too. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to be
considered but that I was too scared to put myself out there. However, when I
found out that we were going on a road trip to Denver to see Jasmine at The Fix, I came up with the idea that we should record our trip and possibly use
whatever footage we get to submit to be on CreativeLIVE.
So I called Mercy to tell her
my idea and see if she would still be willing to help me put it together. She
thought the concept was great and agreed to help with the editing. Long story
short, when we got home from our trip with the video footage, I seriously
considered forgetting about the whole thing and not finishing the video.
However, I quickly came to my senses and decided to just go for it! Unfortunately,
I just found out this morning that I didn’t get picked. But that’s ok, I’m
still proud of myself for at attempting it and I will still be watching her
live on April 27-29th! :)
If your friends with me on Facebook, I know you’ve probably already seen this
video, but for those who aren’t, here’s the video I submitted:
